The Montana Board of Regents exercises enormous authority over the state’s public university system. Its decisions affect student rights, campus policies, public funding, and the direction of higher education across Montana. Decision-makers with that much power should answer to the people they serve. Current seven-year terms allow individual regents to remain in office longer than many elected officials and make meaningful turnover painfully slow. Montana should shorten future regent terms and reform the student-regent recommendation process so that qualified students from across the state have a fair path to consideration. By adding your name, you are saying: I support shortening the terms of future members of the Montana Board of Regents and opening the student-regent recommendation process to qualified students represented by Montana legislators.
